Igness Inc. (Headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa; CEO: Takuma Ogura; "Igness"), a company driving AI-native transformation for enterprises, announces the launch of "Japan Region Mode" for Blaze, its AI agent that automates the building and operation of business systems through conversation. With this mode enabled, all AI processing — including AI inference — runs exclusively on infrastructure located in Japan.
Background
As enterprise adoption of AI agents accelerates, cross-border data transfer associated with AI processing has increasingly become a barrier to adoption.
- Business data included in AI inference requests may be processed on servers in overseas regions
- Restrictions on transferring data outside Japan under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and internal information security policies
- Compliance requirements regarding data residency when handling customer information and highly confidential business data
Blaze has always run as a desktop application in the user's local environment, with an architecture in which credentials and business data are never stored on the vendor side. With the new Japan Region Mode, AI inference itself can now also be confined to Japan, fundamentally resolving concerns about cross-border data transfer.
Overview of Japan Region Mode
Administrators can enable Japan Region Mode from the Blaze admin console. While the mode is enabled, the available AI models are automatically restricted to models hosted in regions within Japan.
Feature 1 | All processing, including AI, completed within Japan
With a simple operation in the admin console, administrators can restrict AI processing for the entire organization to regions within Japan. No complex configuration or additional infrastructure is required.
Feature 2 | Automatic restriction to models in Japan regions
While the mode is enabled, the model selection screen shows only models hosted in regions within Japan, eliminating the risk of users accidentally selecting a model in an overseas region.
Feature 3 | Unchanged user experience
Enabling Japan Region Mode does not change how Blaze is operated or what it can do. Only the set of selectable models is narrowed to regions within Japan — every capability for building and operating business systems through conversation remains available as before.
Comment from Takuma Ogura, CEO
"Many companies considering AI agents have shared their concerns about cross-border data transfer with us. Japan Region Mode makes it possible to keep AI processing entirely within Japan. We hope this gives organizations the confidence — knowing their business data never leaves the country — to move forward with AI-driven transformation."
Availability
- Launch date: July 15, 2026 (planned)
